The Rotary Club of Iganga was established in early 1988 and officially chartered on August 2, 1988. The club’s first president was the late Rotarian Kiwanuka Lubanga, whose leadership laid a strong foundation for the club’s future endeavors. Initially, members gathered for fellowship at Mwana Highway Hotel, fostering camaraderie and planning community service initiatives. Over time, the club transitioned its meetings to Ntinda Valley Resort Hotel, where members continue to convene every Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Throughout its history, the Rotary Club of Iganga has been dedicated to serving the local community, focusing on projects that enhance health, education, and economic development. The club has also engaged in international collaborations, such as partnering with the Rotary Club of Trent Bridge to provide clean water through the drilling of boreholes in the Namunyumya parish, located 80 miles east of Kampala.
This project significantly improved access to clean water, reducing the prevalence of waterborne diseases in the area. Today, the Rotary Club of Iganga continues its mission of service above self, striving to make a positive and lasting impact on the community.
